Each piece in the Kami Series (SH1201, SH1202, SH1203) has a hand forged & folded K120C powder steel blade, differentially tempered using a traditional claying method to produce an HRC60 edge, HRC40 back. The temper line (hamon) is evident and prominent and the grain pattern (hada) shows distinct layers. The saya are deeply lacquered in red, with a ring carved black lacquered section from the mouth of the scabbard (koiguchi) past the cord knob (kurikata). The ray skin (same) used on the tsuka is of the highest quality, and the tsuka-ito on the katana & wakizashi and the sageo on all three pieces are woven from best quality Japanese silk. The fittings (koshirae) are all made from blackened bronze, with decoration in relief and selective detailing of copper, silver and gold. The tsuba of the katana and wakizashi, depicting a Kami (Guardian Deity), is made from hardened blackened copper, with silver and gold detailing. The blade collar (habaki) is a two-piece construction, the inner section being copper and the outer section gold plated brass. Above the habaki, the blades are carved with a hand engraved horimono from the Edo period depicting the Buddhist deity of perseverance, Fudo Myoo, brandishing his sword to cut through ignorance and illusion. Finally an extended handled sword that has the quality of hand forged. This sword has undergone a 6 step forging process from the ancient method of sword making which includes quenching and polishing. The end result is a sword razor sharp with a full tang and almost perfect balance. The extended handle of the sword gives the sword a ceremonial feel as well as a more aggressive handling. This is the newest addition to our hand forged collection and by far one of the best. The Sword comes in a decorative Collectors Box and features a free bag to store the sword.

Attributes of the Weapon:

Blade: The steel of the blade went through a six stage process of forging. It's created with handcraft in an ancient method. The blade of the sword is sharp enough to cut right an edge of paper and is full tang. The visible hamon is found along the edge of the blade with a blood line along the top of the blade. The blade is full tang and features a defined yokote and kissake.
Scabbard: The scabbard of the sword is wooden with a dark crimson finish and red slashes. Wrapped around the upper half of the scabbard is a red cotton sage-o with a golden fitting attaching to the sheath.
Guard: The guard of the sword begins with a golden blade collar attached to a blackened steel fitting. The guard itself is a solid steel disc with kanji, waves and Mt. Funji on the scabbard side. On the reverse side is an ancient Bushi warrior with white and gold attached by another blackened steel fitting.
Handle: The handle of the sword is an extended handle with an eight inch tang. Securing the tang are two removable pins allowing the sword to be disassembled. Over the tang is wood with a black shark skin cover and a red cotton wrap. Two golden dragons secure shark skin layer. The handle ends in a steel pommel with golden fittings.
